    Assaulted in the county jail.

    I was assaulted in the County Jail. Can I hold the county responsible?

    Please review this previous forum answer concerning being assaulted in jail. The county does need to provide a safe environment for you, but the liability also falls upon the people that assaulted you too. There are too many variables involved and that must be considered. It would need to be determined how much your role played in the assault and I am assuming battery too. Were you provoked? Did you provoke someone? Were you just minding your own business? Were you an innocent bystander? Gather all the details and contact a lawyer.
